Alan Stinar

Alan is the Founder and Chief Historian of the Marine Battleherk Project, leading one of the most dedicated efforts to document and preserve the history of Marine Corps air transport and utility aviation. A former KC-130 Powerplants Mechanic, he brings years of hands-on experience from the F/R models at VMGR-152, the T-models at VMGR-234, and service as a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) on the KC-130J with VMGR-252.
After leaving the Marine Corps, Alan continued supporting tactical airlift operations around the world, providing expert contract maintenance for RSAF C-130E/H2 aircraft in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and IQAF C-130Js in Baghdad, Iraq. These experiences further deepened his knowledge of the C-130 community and its mission.
Returning stateside, Alan earned his Bachelor of Science in Digital Cinematography from Full Sail University. Since then, he has produced dozens of historical films—including two feature-length documentaries—earning recognition for his ability to preserve military history through professional, engaging media.
In addition to his work with the Marine Battleherk Project, Alan serves as the official Historian for the Marine Corps Air Transport Association, supports the Brothers In Arms Foundation with media and logistics, and is an active crew member with Raider Air Operations. His mission continues to by telling the stories, preserving the legacy, and honoring the Marines and aircraft that shaped tactical airlift history.
