Mario Van Peebles (pictured far left) would have made an outstanding Marine. He was very friendly and inquisitive about the Marine Corps and the C-130. Too bad he wasted his career in the movies, he would have made a damn good Marine.

I had duty that day of filming, while Clint was directing some shots I was in the shade holding up the wall outside maintenance control watching the everone cooking in the sun,and struck up a conversation with Mario Van Peebles for about 5 minutes, didnt know who he was, untill I saw the movie,and found out he was a co-star- yes,a genuine good person I thought.
